TREEMENDOUS!

November 2008

treeplanting

Year 7 Pupils at Sibford School near Banbury marked National Tree Week by planting out more than 80 trees in the school grounds.

The trees -- which include English Oaks, Silver Birch, Hornbeams and Small Leaf Lime -- were donated to the school by the Woodland Trust.

The planting was organised by members of the Sixth Form Countryside and Environment class. Pictured with some of the trees are Myles Atherstone (12), Harry Rickard (11), Jo-Jo Burman (11) and Charlie Cooper (11) with (back) sixth form students Chris Elliott and Harry Petrie.

National Tree Week (26 November – 7 December 2008) is the UK's largest celebration of trees and woods. This long-established Tree Council festival takes place at an ideal time to plant more trees - of the right kind, and in the right places. As well as tree planting at sites across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, National Tree Week activities include tree dressing, woodcrafts, walks, talks, songs and story telling.
