SOUPER TREAT!
November 2009

Youngsters at Sibford School near Banbury have seen their hard work bear fruit … in the school dining room.
Produce grown by junior pupils, as part of their outdoor learning, has been used by school caterers, Thomas Franks, to make a range of lunchtime treats including pumpkin soup, apple crumble and even beetroot crisps.
Teacher Edward Rossiter said: “Having the opportunity to really find out where their food comes from has been a terrific experience and the kitchen staff have been really encouraging in the way that they have used our home grown produce.
“It’s been great for the children to be able to plant, nurture, harvest and then eat what they’ve grown.”
Pictured in the pumpkin patch are nine-year-olds Clementine Proud and Julia Beaumont.
