SCHOOL NAMES NEW HEAD BOY AND GIRL

July 2008

Jonathan Prestidge and Chloe Ferguson have been appointed new head boy and girl at Sibford School, near Banbury.

The 17-year-olds were elected following a vote by fellow students and staff.

Said Jonathan, who lives in Drayton, near Banbury: “It’s a great honour to be serving the school where I’ve been happy for the past six years.”

Added Chloe, a boarder at the Quaker-run school: “I’m really looking forward to the challenges ahead and to being an ambassador for Sibford.”

Jonathan and Chloe are keeping alive a tradition that spans more than 100 years. According to school records, the first pupils to be appointed head boy and girl were Ralph Hall and Ruth Taylor who took up office back in 1907.

Said Sibford head, Michael Goodwin: “Jonathan and Chloe have an important role to play in the school and I know that they will carry out their responsibilities with skill and dedication. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our outgoing head boy and girl, Tom Podd and Jenny Guy, for the superb job they have done over the past 12 months.”
