GUITAR ACE ALBERT LEE TO APPEAR AT SIBFORD SCHOOL
April 2009

Guitar hero Albert Lee is to appear in concert at Sibford School near Banbury.
Best known for his unique musical style and blindingly fast hybrid picking technique, Albert is often referred to within the music industry as the ‘guitar player’s guitar player’.
He has appeared and recorded with some of the finest artistes in the music industry including Eric Clapton (who describes him as ‘the best guitar player in the world’), Glen Campbell, Willie Nelson, Chris Farlowe, Emmylou Harris, Bill Wyman and the Everley Brothers.
Albert will be accompanied on stage at Sibford by his band Hogan’s Heroes, whose line-up includes Gerry Hogan (Pedal Steel Guitar/Dobro/Guitar), Brian Hodgson (Bass Guitar/Vocals), Peter Baron (Drums/Vocals) and Elio Pace (Piano/Accordion/Vocals).
Prior to the concert, which takes place at 7.30pm on Friday 15 May, Albert will be sharing some of the secrets of his success with pupils from Sibford and neighbouring schools when he conducts a special guitar workshop.
The event is the brainchild of Sibford teacher Andy Foakes who says: “As a guitarist myself I have always admired Albert’s special talent. I was lucky enough to see him in concert last year and thought wouldn’t it be great if we could get him to visit Sibford.
“The fact that he was willing and able to include Sibford School in his current tour is a real coup and we look forward to a brilliant evening.”
Tickets for the concert cost £15 (£10 for concessions) and are available from the school on 01295 781216 or from One Man Band, 8/9 White Lion Walk, Banbury, tel 01295 266788.
